Videos for Jack Weiss, MD

Weiss Intro

Jack Weiss, MD introduces himself and his refractive practice profile in the Gordon Binder Weiss Vision Institute practice. Discussion of the movement in their practice from laser based refractive procedures to now inclusion of the lens-based procedures in the EyeOR facility.

In-office EyeOR Advantages

Jack Weiss, MD discusses the advantages he has witnessed from the EyeOR suite in his refractive practice. Controlling and management of the Òpatient experienceÓ through these new intraocular refractive procedures; efficiency of the operation for surgeon, staff and patients; patient comfort; ease in combination with laser based enhancement procedures; more affordable to the patient in the office based setting vs the hospital or ASC are all discussed in this video.

Baby Boomers

Jack Weiss, MD describes the profile of his refractive practice changing with the aging of America and with the new technology applications for the Baby Boomer generation. Growing into the presbyopic age bracket, which most often includes the lens-based procedure that can be performed within the EyeOR suite. With the combination of the LASIK suite in the same office location, the practice can treat and enhance all these new Boomer patients with an OBS approach. The EyeOR suite is ideal for this mega-trend in the progressive refractive practice.

Cost Benefits of In-Office

Jack Weiss, MD describes the cost benefits of performing the new lens-based procedures in their refractive practice office location vs. the Medicare facility alternatives within their market. It allows us to do the Òbest procedureÓ for the patient regardless of the cost or charge to the patient because the new lens-based procedures in the EyeOR suite now are very close to the traditional LASIK fees. With the EyeOR suite, we have a competitive advantage and allow patients to chose the best procedure for their refractive condition. This has allowed us to grow our lens-based procedure volume much faster than if we had not proceeded with the EyeOR alternative in our practice.

Medicare and Cataract Surgery

Jack Weiss, MD discusses the changes he has witnessed in the Medicare cataract procedures in his practice and how the market demographic has blurred in a combination of cataract refractive procedures. The Premium Lens channel conversion has grown dramatically. The EyeOR suite is currently not used for these Medicare patients electing the premium implants. However; these patients also benefit from the office-based procedures with enhancements and lens-based secondary procedures as well as the laser based enhancements. The hope is that sometime in the future, the Medicare patient will have the alternative in the premium channel to choose the EyeOR suite over the ASC and Hospital alternatives.

Would You Recommend EyeOR

Jack Weiss, MD describes his personal experience with working with EyeOR on the development of their office based operating room and how he sees the future of this new area of the refractive practice. Today the progressive refractive practice is no longer just laser basedÉthe new lens based procedures need to be provided in a similar setting to the LASIK procedures. Benefits are outlined and reviewed on advantages and cost savings to the practice.
